The endothermic generators generate an atmosphere with excess of carbon for case-hardening for example. The exothermic generators generates atmosphere poor in carbon which removes excess of carbon in heat treatment of magnetic laminations for electric motors and manufaturing of pipes.

Together with the Rivoira-Praxair it was developed an ecological atmosphere generator that uses a catalyst based on platinum that does not harm the environment, instead of nickel.
